So much of our fresh fruits and vegetables are covered in waxy films or have pesticide residues. Below is a short video showing a quick, simple and cheap way of removing some residues.
We all know that including fruit and vegetables in our daily diets is good for our health, however residues of many hazardous pesticides are still detected in worryingly high levels. Not everybody has the means to buy or the access organic produce.
According to Dr. Gayle Povies Alleman, MS. RD., if fruits are soaked in a solution containing 10% vinegar and 90% water then it will certainly combat all kinds of pests and bacteria. However, the only precaution while using this trick is to use only those fruits that have non-porous skin like apples, oranges, squash etc. so as to avoid the changes in the taste of the fruits and vegetables.
Here is a simple way to ensure that the fruit and veggies you eat are as clean as possible:
* Mix a solution of 1 part Apple Cider Vinegar to 3 parts water.
* Pour over your chosen fruit or veggies and allow them to sit for 15 minutes or so.
* Then rinse.
So what’s the Wait? If this method promises to deliver clean fruits and that too with the original taste and smell then we are still winning the race of adding healthy years to our good life!
